Empathy Health Announces .6M Funding Round for Sober Sidekick Platform

Empathy Health Technologies of Bentonville announced on Wednesday that it has raised $7.6 million to accelerate the growth of its Sober Sidekick relapse prevention platform.

In announcing the news on its LinkedIn page, Empathy posted that it is focused on making relapse prevention a measurable, system-wide outcome in substance-use disorder care.

It reported that Sober Sidekick has become the world’s largest platform of its kind, now with more than one million downloads, over 145,000 monthly active users and more than two million peer engagements.

The funding will enable Empathy to:

  • Expand value-based partnerships with U.S. payers;
  • Enhance real-time predictive capabilities;
  • Scale support teams and care-collaboration infrastructure;
  • Bring continuous relapse prevention to more people and more populations.

Every day, our community proves that connection saves lives,” CEO Chris Thompson posted. “Most of the health care system sees relapse months after it occurs. We see risk as it’s forming and intervene at the moment it matters. What sets our platform apart is the combination of meaningful human connection and predictive intelligence. Our technology analyzes millions of behavioral signals to detect rising relapse risk and activate support in real time, delivering a 100% peer-response rate within minutes. For members who engage just five times, relapse risk drops 68 percent.”

Investors that supported Sober Sidekick this round include HealthX Ventures, Nina Capital, Ikigai Healthcare Funds and American Heart Association Ventures.
