Eagle Lake Recovery opens addiction treatment facility for men in Choudrant

CHOUDRANT, La. (KNOE) – Eagle Lake Recovery has opened its doors in Choudrant, providing addiction recovery services for up to 14 men at its 163-acre facility.

Joseph Michael, the center’s CEO, said it was created with the intention for men to heal their mind, body and soul.

“To say we have an epidemic, it’s more like a pandemic. We are getting our tails kicked in this deal and people are dying every day,” Michael said. “Fentanyl, gas station pharmaceuticals — it’s harder and harder for someone to have a chance at getting sober.”

The facility offers individualized treatment plans, counseling and structured support lasting 90 days. The program aims to help men build a foundation for lasting recovery.

Staff said recovery doesn’t stop at treatment and requires continued guidance and accountability.

“We’re gonna be a 90-day treatment facility. We’ve seen the 30-day treatment and it seems like it’s almost become like a revolving door,” Michael said. “If you left treatment and you relapsed, you came back. But now with fentanyl and other drugs they are creating, you are lucky if you get to come back.”

Eagle Lake Recovery leaders said the center is already accepting patients and working with community partners to expand access to care.

“If you need help, call, and if we can’t help you, I will do everything in my power to get you someone that can,” Michael said.

For those struggling in silence, Eagle Lake Recovery leaders said this opening sends one clear message: recovery is possible and it starts there.
